PULLMAN, WASHINGTON
Private support for Pullman parks and recreation
We raise money for the programs, parks, and places the City budget can't cover. Our first project is keeping the Rec Center Teen Center open this spring.
FIRST PROJECT · SPRING 2027
Keep the Teen Center open
The Teen Center is a free program at the Pullman Rec Center for Lincoln Middle School students, every school day from 3:30 to 5:00. Its grant ends in December, and City budget cuts mean Parks and Recreation can no longer cover it. $6,897 keeps it running from January 4 to June 10.
Fall 2023
More than 50 middle schoolers in the gym every afternoon with nothing structured to do, and behavior problems Rec Center staff and LMS principals were struggling to manage.
Fall 2026
39 students registered and 10 to 15 every day, with a coordinator running cooking, guest speakers, movies, and gym time.

FOR FUNDERS
What sponsors usually ask
Quick answers for banks, credit unions, and businesses reviewing a request.
Who receives the money?
Gifts for the spring semester are made directly to the City of Pullman, a Washington municipal government, earmarked for the Teen Center. Gifts to a government unit for a public purpose are tax deductible under IRS Section 170(c)(1). The City can provide its tax ID and a gift receipt on request.
What is the Foundation's legal status?
The Pullman Parks and Recreation Foundation is a Washington nonprofit corporation formed in October 2026. Our 501(c)(3) application is in progress. Until the IRS determination letter arrives, we organize support and gifts go straight to the City.
Who does the program serve?
Lincoln Middle School students in Pullman, Whitman County, Washington. 39 students are registered this fall and 10 to 15 attend every school day. The program is free to every family.
Is the program open to everyone?
Yes. The Teen Center serves any Lincoln Middle School student without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity. No religious participation is required, and it is not a political or partisan activity.
How will the money be used?
All of it goes to the program: $5,697 for the coordinator and $1,200 for snacks and activity supplies, covering about 104 afternoons from January 4 to June 10, 2027. No portion goes to Foundation overhead.
What does the program do?
A trusted adult coordinator runs structured afternoons from 3:30 to 5:00 with cooking, guest speakers, movies, and gym time. Before the program began in 2024, more than 50 middle schoolers were in the gym each afternoon with no structure, and both Rec Center staff and LMS principals were managing the behavior that followed.
How will sponsors hear about results?
Each sponsor receives a short report in June with attendance numbers and a breakdown of spending. Sponsors are thanked publicly unless they prefer to stay anonymous.
What is the deadline?
Payments must be received by the first week of January 2027 so the program can open on January 4.
